Six core services, one local crew
From a brittle-pecan takedown in Erlanger Mill village to a clearance trim on a sweetgum growing into the Lexington Utilities line along East Center Street, here’s what we cover across Davidson County. Every quote is free.
Tree Removal
Lexington’s old neighborhoods are full of mature pecans that the mill families planted decades ago, and pecans split brittle in summer wind in a way oaks don’t. A lot of those trees sit between a narrow front porch and the street, so we usually stage the crew in the road and the climber rigs the limbs out one section at a time, lowering each piece to the ground by rope. Mill-village lots off the Robbins side, the streets behind Park Place, and the Erlanger blocks are where we drop the most wood.
Learn MoreTree Trimming & Utility Line Clearance
Lexington’s a split-utility town and that changes who handles what. Inside city limits the power is Lexington Utilities, city-owned, and their crews keep the primary wire clear but anything past their pole is on the homeowner. Outside city, in the rest of Davidson County, it’s usually EnergyUnited or Duke and the right-of-way rules read a little differently. Either way, we do the careful drop-cut work between the wire and your meter.
Learn MoreStump Grinding
We grind stumps below grade so the spot can be sodded, planted, or paved over. Pecan stumps are wide and stringy and take a little more work than a pine, but the price still mostly tracks the diameter. This is the one service we can usually quote by phone if you send a photo with a tape measure or a shoe next to it for scale, which saves an hour each way down US-52.
Learn MoreStorm Emergency
Summer storms hit Lexington hard, and the mature pecans are the first thing to give. A brittle pecan limb can shear off a perfectly healthy tree with no warning when the wind picks up. Pecan on the porch? Long pine down across Talbert Boulevard? Call us first. We answer day or night, get a truck rolling south on US-52, and tarp the roof if the storm split something onto your shingles.
Learn MoreLand Clearing
Bigger scope in Davidson County than the in-town blocks. Out past Cotton Grove Road, around Tyro and Reeds, plenty of folks have an acre or two of overgrown timber they’re ready to open back up, plus the wooded back parcels behind older Lexington homesteads. We cut, chip, and haul it all off in a single push so the work doesn’t stretch over weeks.
Learn MoreDebris Removal
Wood, limbs, and brush hauled off the property. Includes the morning-after pickup once a Davidson County thunderstorm has finished tossing pecan limbs across the yard, plus the jobs where another contractor left the cleanup for you. We chip what we can, load the rest into the truck, and leave the lawn rake-clean before we pull out.

A High Point crew that knows Lexington
Lexington is the furthest south we run. About twenty minutes down US-52 from the High Point shop, past the I-85 split and into Davidson County. We’re upfront about the drive — it’s longer than what we make to Archdale or Trinity, and the quote is still free, the trip is still in person, and there’s no fuel surcharge baked into the price to make the mileage your problem. Lexington jobs earn the route, and the work here has its own flavor. Mill-village blocks around Erlanger and the streets behind Park Place are full of mature pecans that the original families planted back when the mill was still running. Pecan wood is heavy and brittle, and the front yards in those neighborhoods are narrow enough that we usually stage the crew in the street and the climber rigs the limbs out one piece at a time, lowering each section to the ground by rope.
The other thing worth knowing is that Lexington runs its own electric utility inside city limits. Lexington Utilities handles the primary wire on the in-town blocks, EnergyUnited and Duke handle most of the rural county, and the right-of-way rules read a little differently between them. We do the careful drop-cut work between the wire and your meter regardless of who owns the pole — that part doesn’t change. A lot of our Lexington customers commute up to Winston-Salem on US-52 in the morning, and we cover that town too, so if you’ve got property on the other end of that drive we can handle it the same trip. See our Winston-Salem page if that’s you. Need to talk to a person? Reach us through the contact page or just dial (336) 259-8460.
FAQ
Common Questions from Lexington Homeowners
Don’t see your question? Call us at (336) 259-8460.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. We’re fully insured, with current coverage. We can email a Certificate of Insurance to you or your HOA before we start work. Just ask when you call.
My power line in Lexington is owned by the city — do you still do clearance trim?
Yes. Inside Lexington city limits the power is Lexington Utilities, city-owned, so their right-of-way crew handles the primary wire feeding the neighborhood. Anything between their pole and your meter, plus your cable, phone, and internet drops, is the homeowner’s responsibility. Out in the rest of Davidson County it’s usually EnergyUnited or Duke, and the same split applies — they handle the main wire, you handle the lateral. We do that work carefully either way. If a limb is touching a live wire or arcing, call the utility first to drop power to your service, then call us to do the cut. We won’t touch a live line.
Do you give free estimates in Lexington?
Every quote is free, anywhere in Lexington or the rest of Davidson County we cover. Yes, the drive from our High Point shop is longer than what we make for our other towns, and no, there’s no fuel surcharge built into the price to make it your problem. A clearance trim on a pecan along East Center Street gets the same in-person look as a takedown out toward Cotton Grove Road. Stump grinding is the one exception, since we can usually quote by phone if you send a photo with something for scale.
How fast can you get to my Lexington address?
For routine work, usually within 3 to 5 business days. Lexington is about twenty minutes south of our High Point shop down US-52, so we batch Lexington jobs on the same day when we can to make the route work for everyone. That sometimes means waiting a day or two longer than a Trinity or Archdale customer would. For storm damage or anything blocking a driveway or hanging over a roof, that batching goes out the window — we get a crew rolling the same day, often within the hour.
Do you handle storm damage at night or on weekends?
Yes. If a tree is on your house, your car, or a power line anywhere in Lexington, call (336) 259-8460 any time. We answer through the night. Pecans are brittle by nature and a single summer squall can shear off limbs that looked perfectly fine the day before, so we’re used to the after-storm calls and our trucks are loaded for it.
What does it cost to remove a tree?
It depends mostly on the tree’s size, how close it is to your house, and how technical the rigging gets. A small pine in an open Davidson County yard is on the low end. A 60-foot oak hanging over a roof is on the high end. Mature pecans in the older Lexington neighborhoods land on the heavier side because the wood is dense, the limbs spread wide, and the setbacks between house and street are narrow enough that we usually have to rope sections out one piece at a time from the canopy instead of dropping anything whole.
Do you clean up after the job?
Yes. Standard cleanup is included. We haul off the wood and big debris, rake up the small stuff, and run a magnet over the driveway if we used the chipper there. If you want the wood left for firewood, just let us know.
Do you grind the stump too?
Stump grinding is a separate service that we usually quote alongside the removal. It’s optional. Some folks keep the stump as a planter or table base. Pecan stumps in particular grow wide root flares, so grinding the same day we drop the tree usually saves money and time over coming back for a second visit down US-52.
Do I need a permit to remove a tree in Lexington?
In Lexington and the rest of Davidson County, you don’t need a permit to take down a tree on your own private property. There’s no historic-district tree ordinance like Winston-Salem’s Old Salem area. The one situation worth checking is if the tree is in the road right-of-way along your street, which the city or NCDOT handles depending on the road. Mention your address when you call and we’ll let you know if anything special applies, plus handle any paperwork if it’s needed.
What if a tree falls on my house?
Call us first, then your insurance. We can tarp the roof, get the tree off safely, and document everything for your claim. We’ve worked with most major insurers in NC and know what they need to approve the work.
